Can't save preferences/resolution/keymaps - no Documents\Lotro folder

My desktop blew up so while waiting for a new PSU to arrive I installed the game on my laptop; Windows7 path "D:\Games\The Lord of the Rings Online"

The game runs correctly but I cannot save preferences/resolution or keybings. F11 says "Failed saving screenshot to disk."

I worked out I have no "D:\My Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online", so I created it, but it doesn't fix things.

Further information the game launches and prompts to enable DirectX10 each time it starts, and plays the welcome movie.

I do NOT get a UAC prompt, although UAC is enabled on this system.

Any ideas?

LOTRO not working: Fatal Error

I'm playing LOTRO for a while now, and suddenly it stopped working.
When i try to start it i receive a message with fatal error, which you can see in the following print screen:

How can i repair this without installing LOTRO all over again,
because the last time i installed it my computer nearly crashed, dont wanna take that risk again.

AMD Catalyst 13.1 causing CTD

Any Radeon users having problems with the new Catalyst drivers? I was crashing to desktop quite often. The game client remained open in the background and I couldn't make it active or close it. I had to log off windows to get LOTRO to shut down. Running Windows 8 and didn't have any problem with Catalyst 12.11. The 13.1's are supposed to have a nice performance increase across the board so I was looking forward to using them. Sadly though I've reinstalled the 12.8 official drivers in the mean time. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this?

DXDiag will reflect the 12.8 drivers so not sure how much help that would do as I've already uninstalled the 13.1's.

Lag issues - Support thread?

The lag issues seem to be affecting a lot of people and I see A LOT of people complaining about it so I ask this. Does Turbine have a thread somewhere that they are collecting data on it to try and troubleshoot it? I am affected by it, but it only affects me when I'm on my war steed. I would love to offer as much as I can to help them get this sorted out. I looked but saw no thread so I'm either looking in the wrong place or there isn't a thread yet so maybe we could start one? Instead of just complaining maybe we can help them get this sorted out?

Just a thought.....carry on with second breakfast now.....

Game Crash cause computer to Blue Screen

I have looked for a proper place to post this and have given up. I have also posted two in-game tickets which have been closed before I ever to a response to them.

The problem I am having is with the Epic Quest in Volume 2, Book 8, Chapter 6. When I get to the room with Gorothul's Beacon, the game freezes for a few minutes when the beacon becomes intractable. Once I click on it, the game freezes like its loading, but no loading is occurring. After several minutes of waiting, the game becomes unresponsive. Trying to tab out or even access the task manager causes the game to crash my computer making it blue screen.

I have tried running it in full mode, thinking that window mode was the problem, but the crash still occurs. Is there anybody else having a problem with this epic quest? Has anybody found a fix for this problem?

Running: (laptop)
Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate
6 GB RAM
AMD A4-3305 APU
Radeon HD Graphics 1.9 GHz

Game freezing after patch

Im having problems with the game freezing for around 10 seconds now and then and then continues in rapid speed

The chat works fine and things as teamspeak etc works fine

Still suspended in mid-air after Patch 9.1....

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but this so-called 'space combat' was supposed to be removed from the game as of patch 9.1. If this is indeed 'space combat' then I can't use any stables. Zoning into an area results in the stable steed rising upwards into the air, along with the character after dismounting. This has happened twice on two characters today and is kinda trying my patience! I also left a skirmish on a third toon today to have this happen again! I've supplied you with pics and the links to the enlarged versions. You'll have wonderful shots of Bree, Snowbourne, and Edoras...and fyi, all of these characters have been stuck in a perpetual forward motion.

An update error occured: cannot save data files.Please help

I have tried everything. deleting files, changing rights, uninstalling, then removing all and any LOTRO stuff, re-downloading from the main site. 2hr each time, then install the game.. and I still get this error. at one point i deleted the .dat files and i get past but then i get an error after i connect to my server..

i was working fine on monday all day. then tue, i did not play , then wed i did not play, but on thru, it tried to download a patch, and suddenly im..

unable to even start the game . Please Please help. win7 64 bit. was working just fine till wed.

Constant Crashes in Bree since 9.1

I've been having numerous crashes in Bree since update 9.1 and they are not getting better, they are getting worse. I can't transition into any new areas while in Bree (auction house, bank, etc) or the game crashes. It seems, so far, to only be happening in Bree but this is really quite unacceptable. In future, make sure your patches work before releasing them, please?

Hi !

From when i installed the LOTRO client in my pc... i always get the " configuration file missing or empty" error when i try to start the game.

I tryied everything on the internet but nothing...

OS: W7 Ultimate 32bit

I found a log file into the appdata\turbine\lotro\launcher folder...

Client stuck on Examine Game Data

Well I haven't played LotRO in awhile and figured I would try playing it again this morning. When I started up the client it kept stopping on examine game data. I thought maybe I messed something up when I uninstalled the bullroarer server so I did a clean uninstall and redled and installed the client. It still got stuck there. I then looked at the thread and did everything it said and it still gets stuck there. I also noticed that some other people have been having the same problem even after doing everything the thread states. Is there any help I can get so I can start playing LotRO again?

High and low res clients.

A kinnie of mine reinstalled the game the other day and told it was running a bit faster and i touht i could do it some day too.
Just wondering if theres difference in for example:

High res client using ultra low graphics AND low res client using ultra low graphics?

Or is the difference just thet the high res one has the files needed to use the ultra high options?
Dont really feel like downloding it for 10hours if theres no actual difference.

I had a crash of my second hard drive that I used as storage for all my games (drive "F"). My primary hard drive ("C") still works and my system is still up. While I am waiting to get another computer (was time for an upgrade anyway), I thought I'd re-install LotRO to my "C" drive so I could play for the 2 weeks or so it takes I for the new computer to arrive.

When running setup, however, I am getting the "The drive or UNC share you selected does not exist or is not accesible" and setup aborts.

I know something somewhere is pointing to the F drive and confusing it, thinking I've already got it installed. Previous searches on this problem led me to the registry editor but I could not find anything that needed to be modified. Any idea what I can do to fix it so it installs? A clean boot did not help.

Problem with UserPreferences Not Being Read

Several months ago my hard drive failed. After replacing with a new one, I downloaded and installed the HiRez version of LOTRO. I immediately started having problems with my Gamma setting not being remembered from session to session. I have tried everything I know to find what is causing this problem but am not at a total loss.

My UserPreferences file has the following entries:

AllowGammaChanges=True
Gamma=1.40 (the setting I have in game)

When the launcher starts it shows the following:

Update Game Data 0% 1/0

When I start the game for the first time in a day or after I have been out of the game for a while, the gamma setting is reverted to 1.00. If I exit the game and restart, gamma setting is then correct at 1.40.

Additionally I notice that on first starts where gamma has been reverted the ESCape key will not allow me to bypass the splash screens. On subsequent restarts the ESCape key works.

It appears that there is some kind of communication problem involving the Launcher, Client and UserPreferences.

My previous installation prior to the HD failure never had this kind of issue.

I would really like to get this problem resolved. Does anyone have any suggestions for me or possibly how I might be able to contact Turbine about the problem? While it is not a game stopper, it is certainly aggravating.

Game fails to launch after selecting server.

First of all apologies if there is already a thread for this but I couldn't see it.

Basically, the problem is that I cannot log into the game. The client launched and updated fine and then after I have selected the server a black box appears and then minimizes and then nothing happens. I checked the Task Manager to see if the game was running and it isn't there.

If anyone can offer any explanation that would be great.

Never goes to the actual Store or displays anything. Unable to see any items, let alone buy anything.

Won't Start After Log-in

So I get to the log-in page, and successfully log in. The game let's me select my server like it should. When the log-in page goes away like it's about to start, the game comes up to a black screen just like it's about to begin. After like 2 seconds, it shuts down. I've tried starting it multiple times, I've tried repairing the game, I've unistalled and reinstalled, but I still have the same problem. I was able to play the game before, so I don't understand how this happens. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm sorry, but please only post if you have help, I don't care if you are experiencing the same problem.

I've been having numerous crashes in Bree and the Shire since update 9.1 and they are not getting better, they are getting worse. I can't transition into any new areas while in Bree (auction house, bank, etc) or the game crashes. It seems, so far, to only be happening in Bree and once in the Shire but this is really ruining the gaming experience. I can't be the only one having these problems.

Pointer in mini-map vanishes - have to log out/in to regain

Greetings

as above my problem is with the pointer in mini-map - it is not showing when I first log in and I have to log out and back in again to regain it.

It's getting tedious - can any of you kind souls recommend anything ?

My laptop is on the verge of crashing and my mom may end up giving me her laptop... but I have a few questions.

1) Will I be able to access all my characters and game content from a different computer if Lotro is downloaded on it? Is there anything I have to do to be able to access characters on a different computer?

2) My current laptop is a Win 7 64 bit, but my mom's is Win 8... will Lotro work on Win 8?

3) In the event my computer does crash are there any lotro related files I need to back up? Is there a way I can back these up easily/ for cheap
